BiographyClassical guitarist Jacob Blizard is an active performer of music both old and new. He currently studies at the Oberlin Conservatory. He plays standard classical guitar repertoire as well as popular and folk music.
Jacob has performed in masterclasses for or had private lessons with many renowned guitarists, including David Tanenbaum, Jason Vieaux, Stanley Yates, and Lukasz Kuropaczewski. Jacob is also a dedicated educator, and is committed to making music education more widely available. He maintains a private studio of around 10 students, and in 2009, he started an after-school music program at Seven Hills Middle School in Richmond, VA, which has since become fully incorporated into the core curriculum at the school. Outside of the classical music world, Jacob has performed on many recordings, including those by Richmond, VA artists Parlour Shakedown, Ali Thibodeau, Collin Pastore, and Lucy Dacus, whose EP Girls Back Home was featured on the “Best Albums of 2012 in RVA” list on the soundsofrva blog. Jacob recently co-produced, helped arrange, and performed on Dacus' first full-length release, due out in March. Jacob is currently studying with Stephen Aron and working towards giving his Senior Recital this semester. |
